Creative art and beyond -4 Going Green

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012

Our planet, earth, is facing Global warming today. However, we still can do a lot with our environment and save our planet little by little for us as well as for future generation. The leaves represent the trees, plants and rain forests. The artist’s message is that nature and mankind can and must live in harmony with each other.Preserving our greens is responsibility of all of us.

This series of “Going Green” was created in 2009 by me and it has received raved reviews. Using the real leaves and branches, I have used mixed media to create the art work by layering technique. One can combine water color and acrylic paints, oil and acrylic paints to enhance the effect of your art work. It brings the desired softness and the vibrancy of the colors.

Conserve Our Resources: WATER, Energy and Earth

It was a proud moment for me when I created these beautiful acrylic painting series which represents our planet and its resources. The first series is displayed in RAND Corporation, CA and is enjoyed and appreciated by many. I will be sharing more details in upcoming blogs.

Our precious planet and all living beings are in constant need of water which begins as a drop and becomes a stream of life. Saving our water is utmost important and becomes a constant reminder to all of us to conserve every drop whenever we can.

Energy is represented in the form of fire and its swirls. The colors and swirls are depicting the fire, so vibrant and powerful that one can almost feel its intensity even in a painting. Wise use of energy is almost essential.

The colors and contents of the earth are portraying the complicated nature of the earth with its soil, crust, waterfalls and ice. There is a glimpse of North and South America as a part of the globe. Our mother earth is agitating and the world is facing a global environmental crisis, so let’s buckle up and save it.

“Going Green” series is one of my most favorite series of my paintings. I
have thoroughly enjoyed creating them.

Using natural resources like flowers, leaves and tree branches, I tried to
show create special effects. I feel we are lucky to be surrounded by natural
resources, and by all means we should preserve them. That inspired me to create
these series of paintings on “Going Green” and “Conserve Our Resources”. It
has been well received. Not only that, every time I look at them, I feel very
proud of them and it is constant reminder to me to appreciate having them.

Talking about the technique, I gathered some leaves, flowers and branches.
I dried them so that it is easy to work with. Once the moisture is out, you can prevent
it from rotting. Then, I used mixed media (oil and acrylic) to create
special effects for greeting cards and paintings by taking some impressions
of leaves, flowers and branches. To my amazement, they were just astonishing.

Combining all the different paints one by one and layering them and alternating
between them each layer gave my painting depth. I started experimenting on paper
and then moved to the canvas.

Creativity does not stop with one area of art. It expands and goes beyond
any boundary. One can indulge in one’s own creativity and create wonders for
the self and the world.

Using simple geometric lines along with some free hand design can create great
art work too. Many of my sketch books represent my own feelings and I have always
captured them in some form of art.

The greeting card created with simple lines ( my series is called “Life Lines”) and
some free hand shapes have created art for me. It has been well
received and appreciated by many.

Use your own imagination of free shapes, drawings and lines and capture it in your sketch
book. Combine with various colors and shapes and you will come up with your own
unique art. It is worth trying and exploring your own creativity.

Use of sharpie of various tips can help you get started. Then add some variety
in your shapes and colors to it.
